We're always up for an adventure, especially when it involves stepping out of our comfort zone and into the water (quite literally this time for John). At the start of summer, the Kaldi team swapped our usual caffeine-fuelled brainstorms and clothing samples for wetsuits and life jackets as we headed to Foxlake Adventures in East Lothian for a team day out like no other.
Spoiler alert: wakeboarding is a lot harder than it looks, but also about ten times more fun than we expected!
First-Time Wipeouts & Laughs
Let’s be honest: most of us had never been near a wakeboard before, let alone balanced on one while being pulled across a lake. But with the brilliant team at Foxlake (shoutout to the instructors for their patience and good humour), we were soon geared up and ready to hit the cable park.
There were wobbles. There were spectacular wipeouts. There may have been a few unintentional dives. But there were also a lot of laughs, some solid attempts, and one or two team members who might just have found their new favourite hobby.
More Than Just the Ride
At Kaldi, we’re always up for trying something new, especially when it gets us outside and doing something together with the crew. It wasn’t really about mastering the sport (though staying upright felt like a massive win); it was more about backing each other, having a laugh, and stepping just a little outside the usual routine.
And yes, we definitely earned our post-session coffees and pastries at a local coffee shop (more on that in a future Coffee Trail blog).
Fueling the Kaldi Spirit
What drives us at Kaldi is pretty simple - staying curious, building a community and making space for trying new things. Whether we’re designing clothes that fit into everyday life or getting out of our depth on a wakeboard, it’s all part of the same mindset: show up, give it a go, and enjoy the ride 🤘🏻
Massive thanks to Foxlake Adventures for hosting us, we’ll be back (with slightly more upper body strength next time). And if you’ve been thinking about trying something new, take this as your sign. You don’t have to be good, you just have to go for it!
Catch you on the next adventure,
The Kaldi Team
