The Kaldi Coffee Trail - A Pit Stop at Steampunk, North Berwick

Back in May, we took a little detour along the Kaldi Coffee Trail to the seaside town of North Berwick, Scotland. Tucked just behind the high street, in an old warehouse with serious character is Steampunk Coffee. If you’ve ever wondered what happens when great coffee meets good vibes and a hint of salty sea air, this is it.

An Old Warehouse With a New Soul

Walking into Steampunk feels like stepping into a space shaped by craft and character. There’s vintage lighting, exposed brick, and plenty of greenery - all brought together in a way that feels considered but laid-back. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down, whether you’re catching up with a friend or just enjoying a quiet moment with your coffee.

Coffee Done Right

Let’s get to the good stuff - the coffee. Steampunk roast all their beans on-site in small batches, with a serious focus on ethics and transparency. Between us, we tried a bit of everything. Flat whites, lattes, even a quick espresso to round things off and every cup delivered.

A Space for Everyone

The place felt much more than just a coffee shop, Steampunk feels like a community hub. Dogs are welcome (bonus points), there’s space for cyclists to pull in off the road, and they regularly host music nights, local events, and even classic car meet-ups. It kinda feels like you never really know what you’ll find when you rock up - but you know it’ll be good.

Worth the Trip

If you’re headed anywhere near East Lothian, Steampunk is a no-brainer. Grab a coffee, chat with the locals and breathe in that North Berwick sea breeze. It’s a perfect little recharge stop on the Kaldi Coffee Trail and one we’ll definitely be coming back to in the future.

Stay caffeinated,
The Kaldi Team
